Sweden forbids Chinese Tech Giant Huawei and ZTE from its 5G Telecom Networks

Sweden has recently banned the use of telecom equipment from Chinese Technology Giant Companies Huawei and ZTE 000063.SZ in its 5G network over security-related concerns. So, with this measures Sweden has amalgamated with other European nations that have prohibited Chinese suppliers like Huawei.

On Tuesday, the Swedish telecom regulator said that four wireless carriers bidding for frequencies in an upcoming spectrum auction for the new 5G networks must not use equipment or resources from Chinese Tech Giant Huawei or ZTE.

Report states, that Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) followed assessments by the security service and Swedish armed forces of its license conditions. It also stated that the wireless carriers that intents to use existing telecommunications infrastructure for 5G network must also tear out any prevailing gear from ZTE or Huawei Wireless.

The organization is, however, not the only one to have put a ban on Chinese tech giant Huawei but UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has also revealed in July this year that they will completely remove Huawei from the UK’s 5G network by the end of 2027.

Digital Minister, Oliver Dowden had told the Parliament that this has not been an easy decision but it is the right one for the UK telecoms networks, for our national economy and our security and we will have to implement in law an irreversible path for the complete removal of Huawei equipment from our 5G network, by the time of the next election.

Besides, the reason behind the UK’s decision around its policy regarding Huawei can be owed to new US sanctions on chip technology. So, because of this the Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre does not consider Chinese Technology Companies Huawei a reliable supplier.
