On Monday, the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility ‘Hyundai Motor Company announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore ways to speed up the global hydrogen economy. The agreement contains the evaluation of Hyundai’s proprietary fuel cell system for the freshly declared INEOS Grenadier 4×4 automobile.

However, both the industry giants will work together to study the possibilities to deploy hydrogen applications and technologies. As well as, both the collaborators will also work together on looking for opportunities for the production and supply of hydrogen.

South Korea-based Hyundai Motors is a leader in the field of fuel cell technology and set in motion its first-ever mass production of fuel cell electric automotive back in the year 2013.

Furthermore, the Hyundai Motor Company’s first-ever hydrogen-powered SUV ‘Hyundai Nexo’ is supposed to have the longest autonomy among hydrogen-powered automobiles in the world market and its modular fuel cell system has proven to be quite trustworthy and successful.

Currently, the auto manufacturing company ‘Hyundai Motors’ is presently functioning towards its Fuel Cell Vision which focuses to expand the annual production of hydrogen fuel cells to 7,00,000 by the year 2030.

Hyundai Motor Company’s Senior V P and Head of Fuel Cell Center, Saehoon Kim said ‘INEOS’ is focusing on the development of a fuel cell electric automobile and the hydrogen ecosystem represents a new step towards sustainable and clean transportation. Moreover, the auto manufacturing company believes this will provide an important low-carbon option across a wide range of sectors.

Lastly, the Hyundai Motors Senior Head of Fuel Cell Center also said that we hope our decades-long expertise in hydrogen fuel cell work in synergy with INEOS expertise in the field of chemistry to realize the mass production of green hydrogen and fuel cell for the Grenadier.
